Churches are notorious for 20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the work.
How did this happen?
How did we get wrapped into this thinking?
I have to think back a couple of years in my own spiritual journey.
After getting baptized, I really had no one in the Church to teach me there was something I was to do or a direction I needed to move too.
I was baptized, told congratulations and then nobody brought me aside.
I was volunteering as staff for Campus Life, so I was serving God, but I didn't know anything about serving the Church.
I went to Sunday School classes and never felt I learned the word of God any better and honestly I didn't know any other way to serve God.
Personally when I looked at the 20-80 example in the Church, I wonder how many people were like me in the Church?
Hailee is an awesome singer, she once went to a worship leader in a Church and said she would like to be a part of the singers during the worship service.
She was told they pretty much already have their team set in place and she might be able to fill in if one of those people was missing.
How often do you think people want to serve, but either have no way to lead them to serve or get stuck in the "We are already set without you?"
It's happened to me and it's happened to Hailee, how about you?
The book Simple Church talks about faith being a never ending process you constantly need to move from worshipping God with other believers, diving deeper into his word, serving in his Church and outside the Church and reaching out to unbelievers.
Sometimes we don't have someone to lead us or when we go to someone, we get tossed aside.
We honestly might be part of the 80 percent who do 20 percent, but honestly don't know a way out of this.
Jesus talks about this in Matthew 9 37-38…
"Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore to send out workers into his harvest field."
Ask the Lord…
Have you ever thought of doing that?
Asking God, where do you want me to serve and prayerfully consider that and listen for God to speak.
Everyone has a passion in life.
Something they want to do with their lives.
Are you accomplishing it?
Are you truly happy with where you are at in your life?
God wants us to serve to the best of our abilities and we need to be in a place where we can serve him to the best of our abilities are you?
Have a great day.
