Powers beyond belief

It's impressive how strong some people can be.

Whether it's athletes in the Olympics or professional weightlifters.

I watch the Olympics just amazed at the strength of some of these athletes.

There is power I just don't understand.

I become amazed by this power?

How could someone who weighs 20 pounds more than me lift such an amazing amount?

There are some things I just don't understand.

There are still things I am learning about with Christianity.

Being a Christian is a growing experience.

There is not one Christian other then Jesus that has all the answers.

We are not perfect people, we just worship one who is.

There is strength in that one person that is often beyond belief.

At one point the disciples really needed Jesus.

The teachers of the law were arguing with the disciples.

A man brought his boy to visit the disciples of Jesus.

The boy was possessed by a demon and it would take control of the boy and do awful things to him.

It was to the point the demon would often throw the boy into fire or water to kill him.

The disciples could not heal him and the teachers of the law went off on the disciples.

Jesus then told them, basically how long should I put up with you and healed the boy.

The disciples were left in awe.

What did Jesus do that they didn't?

Jesus explains what why they couldn't get the demon out of the boy in Mark 9:29…

"This kind can come out only by prayer."

Prayer?

That's it?

The same thing we can do basically anytime can have that much power?

That's crazy.

Yet this is how much power there is in prayer.

It's something easily overlooked in faith.

How much power there really is in prayer.

Prayer is also different from an ultimatum.

You can't go to God and say, "If you help me pass this test, I swear I will study the next time."

This isn't prayer, this is bargaining with God (Which I have tried to do before, it doesn't work.)

Having faith and trusting in God can have some amazing results.

While it happens on God's timing and not ours, it happens.

There is strength in prayer and it's not always the way we expect.

In the movie Evan Almighty, they explain this in a great way…

"If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?"

There is power in prayer.

No matter how far we think we are from God, we are one humble call away from him.

You can always go to God with the deepest and darkest secrets in your life and he will listen.

There is power in prayer.

I am still finding this out more and more everyday.

Have a great Friday.
