Bare minimum

Sometimes we forget things.

I was on vacation a couple of years ago.

Hailee and I were just newly married and were heading down on a Church cruise.

We get down to the hotel in Miami and find out I didn't have any shirts.

I literally had the shirt on my back.

So the next day Hailee, Onna and I headed down to the closest mall in Miami.

We found a place that had plan t-shirts 4 for $20.

Deal.

I was set with clothes.

Has this ever happened with you and forget something on vacation?

We can easily replace some of the things we forget, hopefully it's not a person like Kevin in Home Alone.

When Jesus sends people out, he does this different then what we would normally take when we go out.

This was his statement when he sent out the 72 in Luke 10:3-4…

"Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Don not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road."

He later tells them to go into houses saying things like peace to this house and to tell people the kingdom of God is with them.

If people are nice back to the 72 then they can heal the people and feel welcomed, if not, move on.

This would be interesting, God tells you to move and you do.

You don't think about what's in the past or what your without but what's in the future.

Take the fewest stuff possible.

What would that require?

You would have to trust that other people are going to take care of you and your needs.

You would have to have faith.

Faith that Jesus would keep you safe.

What would that be like if Christ just asked you to move right now?

That he is taking you in a different direction then where you think you should head.

The 72 really had to put their faith in Jesus, when was the last time your faith was challenged?

When it was truly shaken to the core?

We truly see how much faith we have when we face life altering times.

When we lose our job, when we have an unexpected pregnancy, when we struggle to get pregnant, when we find out we have a sickness like cancer, when someone unexpectedly dies, our faith is truly tested.

I have seen people fold and give up on their faith when this happens and I have seen people rely more on God and come through in flying colors.

God will always come through, it's just not always on our timing.

There was this lady I know, she was a good Christian, yet things were falling apart.

Her child tried to commit suicide, her husband was hurt years back and suffered some mental problems.

While this was going on her son suffered with some injuries through sports.

Her faith was tested, I am not going to lie, I could never imagine anyone having to go through this.

Yet she did.

Every Sunday I would see her at Church, in Sunday School and having as positive of an attitude as possible when it would have been so easy to give up.

A year has passed since this person has gone through this.

She is doing great, her family is doing better than it ever has and I am amazed.

I get to talk to her and see what she went through and how she came out of that situation.

Jesus can help us in our darkest times when we trust in him.

Faith in Jesus goes beyond showing up on time for Church every Sunday.

The 72 were sent out with barely anything, but faith.

They made it through trusting Jesus.

Could you do the same?

Have a great day.
