Losing money is never fun.
I was in high school, ready to purchase my varsity jacket.
I was just arriving home reached into my packet to get my money out and it wasn't there.
I check all my other pockets…
Nothing.
I started to retrace my steps.
I thought I could have lost my money walking from school and the store, so I retraced my steps.
It was starting to get dark, my sister and I could not find it.
Since my freshman year I paid for my own clothes, that summer I worked as a caddy at a country club and saved my money for a varsity jacket.
It was going to cost me $265.
Now I had nothing.
I was crushed.
I couldn't imagine where it could have went and thought I must have dropped it and someone else had collected it.
It was gone.
I awoke in the morning and went to school disappointed.
I was walking with my head down when I saw an envelope.
It was my envelope!
It had all the money in it and was on my way home.
I was so thankful!
The money that took me weeks to earn was now mine.
I was able to get my varsity jacket the next day.
What a relief.
It feels good to find something after we have lost it.
You ever have this feeling?
It's a great feeling.
Jesus tells us a story about a lost coin.
A lady had 10 coins and loses one (Coins were worth a lot more then now).
She looks for a long time.
Finally she finds it.
She rejoices.
Jesus tells this story and ends it with this in Luke 15:10…
"In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angles of God over one sinner who repents."
Angels rejoice when we turn away from sin.
Have you every thought about that?
We can get so wrapped up into sin that it becomes a part of us.
When we change, there is rejoicing.
How awesome is that!
God love us.
He sent Jesus here for us.
We can to be excited about that.
We can repent and turn away from the things that are hurting us, our friends and family.
Imagine how much better we would be as people if we repented from our mistakes?
Have a great day.
