Money, Money, Money…..MONEY

I wish I looked at money like my daughter Nevaeh.

Nevaeh is such a sweet heart.

Sometimes I wish I had her value with money.

Last year, Nevaeh knew when it was my birthday.

She went and made me a card, it was beautiful.

She gave me the card and it had money in it.

It was about 10 dollars, all the money she had in her savings envelope.

She gave me all the money she had as a gift.

It was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen.

There was no way I could accept this money from a five year old.

Yet I did and Denny's tasted great that morning!

Just kidding, just kidding.

One of the things I love about Nevaeh and money, it was not a big deal to her.

She wanted to give her money away, she didn't care if it was all the money she had.

Sometimes we get stuck wanting money for selfish reasons.

Often money overtakes what's truly important.

Jesus tells us this in Luke 16:13…

"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

We get stuck wanting things.

We live in a "we want" society.

We want, a better TV, paintball gun, computer, cell phone, video game system, car and the list can go on and on.

Often what we want overtakes us.

As a result things we want, we get and often it's a bad deal.

Sometimes the things we own, end up owning us.

I wish I had Nevaeh's money values.

It's ours to give away.

Is $80 a lot of money?

It could buy you a night out with the family, a couple of tanks of gas, maybe a video game or two or safe water for a family to drink.

Places all over the world do not have safe drinking water.

Through organizations like activewater.org you can donate money for sand filters to be put in homes.

This will eliminate 97% of containments in water and make it safe to drink.

Yet, we think about this and still want to think about ourselves first.

I am guilty of this too.

I wish I treated money more like Nevaeh.

We can serve God and other people with money.

Or we can keep it ourselves.

What are you going to do?

Have a great day.
