Is Valentine ’s Day just for girls?

Happy single out singles day.

Valentine’s Day is interesting.

It has a different meaning for so many different people.

One question I hear a lot is, it is just for girls?

What do you think?

For some a chance to feel loved and receive gifts, for others it’s a time where you feel lonely.

For a lot of people it’s being somewhere in between.

Some people give gifts that are awesome, some….well it’s the thought that counts.

What is Valentine’s Day to you?

I love getting and giving gifts, this year we aren’t doing that with the fact we are in the process of getting a new house.

Yet I love it when I can tell Hailee put time and effort into a gift.

When it’s more than a quick run to Walmart and grabbing something off the shelf.

There is something about giving a special gift that takes time and effort.

Sometimes it’s easy to think of what to give and sometimes it’s hard.

As we look at Valentine’s Day, I am reading through a section called the Rich Ruler.

He was a very good person and very wealthy.

He wanted to know what he had to do to go to heaven.

Jesus told him to follow all the commandments.

He said he did.

Jesus then told him to sell everything he had and give to the poor and he will have treasure in heaven.

He responded in Luke 18:23…

“When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth.”

He was a great man, but couldn’t give his things away.

When we look at Valentine’s Day, giving gifts away and love, you can often tell how you love someone by what you are willing to give them for a gift.

Are you will to give up something you love or that would be costly for someone else you love?

Have you thought that maybe giving something away to somebody in need might be a better gift?

What do you think?

Valentine’s Day is a day to show love, who can you show love to today?

Have a great day.
