Denying what you love

Nobody likes to be denied.

When I think of denial I think of high school prom when someone asks another person to go and they flat out tell them no.

In an episode of Scrubs, JD runs into a person from his past, he says her name (We will call her Apple) then something along this line…

“Apple, the one girl who denied going to winter court and prom with me, even though I never asked her to either.”

Wow.

Not a lot of love there.

It’s never fun to be denied.

Sometimes as people we struggle with the fact that some people will deny us, sometimes we try to stay away from those situations because of what might happen.

Jesus told Peter by the end of the day he would deny him three times.

This is someone Peter loved, he knew who and what Jesus was doing and after Jesus was arrested, twice he denied knowing Christ.

This is what was said after the third time in Luke 22:61-62…

“The Lord turned and looks straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.”

Peter denied someone he loved three times and was ashamed.

How often are we ashamed of what we love?

We hurt those close to us and even when we love them, we could still hurt.

We hurt those we love, sometimes on purpose and sometimes by mistake.

If we truly love people, we have the ability to forgive and move on.

I have seen people that have been hurt and not move on, forgive that person until it was to late.

There is nothing worse than seeing two people that claim to love each other part on bad terms.

Peter denied Jesus, will he get a second chance?

Second chances are great to have, even when we hurt someone we love, we can give them another chance.

Who do you need to give another chance?

Have a great day.
