A mind is a terrible thing to waste, so is leftover pizza.
There is a lot we do in the world that is out of selfish desire.
The more I think about it, the more selfish I can be.
We do things to please us for our sake.
What if this changed?
What if we thought of other people first?
For the past month I have been working on a major paper.
This paper is the only thing (Besides ADD) keeping me from having a MA.
I love this paper and the more I write and talk about it, the more I want to get it done.
Everyday has been a whirlwind of ideas, thoughts, life and ministry.
Something I have been praying about lately change my thought process.
I was in the middle of an interview for my paper when I received a call from Cheryl.
It was a call I didn’t wasn’t expecting, and changed my outlook on today.
Cheryl called me to let me know she has cancer.
Those who know Cheryl, know she is just a sweetheart.
She and her family have been so supportive of my ministry at the Church.
I don’t say this often, she is inspiration to me.
Cheryl hasn’t had an easy life and has always kept the faith.
She keeps the faith better than most.
After finding out about the cancer she wrote this on Facebook (I didn’t ask permission for this but it was inspiring to me and I wanted to share)….
Well, it is cancer. Will post more details as I know them. Hopefully off to IU cancer center next week. Prayer greatly appreciated-not only for me but for my family. I'm quite the handful when I'm sick so they need strength! Going to take a nap and remember that through Christ my Lord I can do all things. He STRENGTHENS me. I CANNOT be conquered or defeated. I CAN do ALL things through Him!
There is power in Cheryl that most people don’t have, a strong faith in Jesus.
I think about Cheryl as I am doing my devotion right now.
This is the first couple of verses I read (John 4:39-41)…
“Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, :He told me everything I ever did.: So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers.”
Cheryl has a powerful testimony already how God has been there for her and he is going to be there for her through the process.
Just like many people believed in Jesus from the Samaritan’s women testimony, I see the strength of faith through Cheryl.
There is power behind Jesus, it is a power you can’t get anywhere else.
My thoughts changed when I heard Cheryl’s news.
I write about this because Cheryl is an amazing and strong women.
Sometimes we are so wrapped into our own lives we forget about what's truly important.
She has that strength through Jesus.
If you can, pray.
Pray for Cheryl and her family.
There is power in prayer, I truly believe this.
Please keep this amazing family in your prayers.
