It can be right in front of us and we can miss it.
My friend Chad and I were walking to my home after the last day of school my seventh grade year.
We cut through Washington Park and see a huge family reunion behind my house.
We don’t think anything of it other than how big the family was.
I don’t know how we thought of it, but we were told, this is Magic Johnson’s family reunion and Magic is right over there.
We look at the person who is supposedly Magic Johnson.
Chad and I thought the same thing, he’s not big enough.
As we were walking away from this guy, Chad yelled “Hey Magic!”
He turned around.
Our mouths dropped, it was him.
I don’t know how we didn’t know it was him, but it was.
Sometimes things are right in front of us when we don’t realize it.
Some people did this with Jesus.
They were having a conversation with him and didn’t even know it was him.
Jesus was talking with this lady, and she had no clue.
Jesus was telling her about things a stranger would have no idea about.
She was puzzled, she was a Samaritan and knew he was a Jew, they don’t usually associate with the opposite.
Jesus was telling her about the kingdom of God and who people worship.
As he is saying this the lady said this in John 4:25 and Jesus responded in verse 26…
“The women said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.
“Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am he.”
She was talking and didn’t even know the person right in front of her was Jesus.
Jesus would appear and help.
He would help and show love to typical enemies.
Jesus did that for us.
When do you start following Christ?
How do you start?
Jesus isn’t hidden from us, he is right in front of us and we don’t even notice him.
Even when we think we could be far from Jesus he is right there.
Magic Johnson was right in front of Chad and I, we had no clue.
We eventually got a picture with him.
No matter how far you think you are from faith, Jesus is right there for you.
Life can kick us in the teeth sometimes.
Jesus is there to pick us up and forgive us when we accept what he did on the cross.
Jesus is right in front of us, what are you going to do?
Have a great day.
