Your turn to change the dirty diaper

Life isn’t always peachy and filled with palm trees.

There are times when life isn’t that great or you have to do things you would rather not do for those you love.

Being in love is more than just saying I love you.

The older I get, the more I realize what love is all about.

In some regards I still have no clue.

I love my kids and they can make me laugh like no one else.

Example…

Right now Connor is choosing his own wardrobe.

Some of his style includes shorts, a camo shirt with a funky hat and a clip on tie.

It’s priceless.

Yet we all have to do things we don’t want to do for the ones we love?

What are some things you don’t want to do, but have too?

I don’t enjoy changing dirty diapers.

If you do…..that’s….odd.

Yet with three kids I have changed hundreds and hundreds of dirty diapers.

There are things we do for the ones we love.

Often a true sign of love is doing something that no one else wants to do, you do it because you love the person or people.

Jesus did this with his disciples by doing something a low servant would do, wash feet.

This is in biblical times, they didn’t have showers or the type of shoes we have today.

This was a job nobody wanted.

Jesus did this for his disciples.

He says this afterward in John 13:14-17…

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.  I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.  I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.  Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”

To be great, you must be willing to do things you don’t want to do.

Saying I love you isn’t that hard, anyone can say it.

Showing you love someone is completely different.

What do you do for the ones you love?

Do you encourage them or tear them down whether in real life or on Facebook?

Do you do things you don’t like or care for because it needs to be done?

Are you willing to do some of the lowest of lows for the ones you love?

What do you do to show love to other people?

Jesus showed us was true love is through washing the feet of others.

Are you willing to do the same?

Have a great day.
