What is Love....(How does the rest of the song go?)

The older I get, the greater the understanding I have for love.

I learn what love is, how it is done and who it is shown to.

So often love is used where it limits the effectiveness of it.

People will say I love you to get people to do things for them.

After spending time with some elders, you can find out what true love is and it is completely different love then what you talk about on a wedding day.

Not saying that what was said on a wedding was untrue but rather there is a greater understanding of what love is.

Jesus tells us this in John 15:17…

“This is my command: Love each other.”

Love each other.

Jesus spends an entire section talking about the relationship to a vine and its branches.

How when a branch isn’t producing fruit, it is left out and burned, it serves a purpose but only for a limited time.

Sometimes people look for love and only want it for their benefit for a short time.

Love is not selfish.

I never expected to be at a dance recital for three hours, yet I have twice because my daughter was in it along with some cool students from my Church.

I thought it was going to be awful at first but it was enjoyable.

I wouldn’t ever go to a dance recital on my own, but I would be there for other people.

We want to show love to other people, to give them respect and hope they return the same love back to us.

Love each other.

This is something I have talked about multiple times in my writings.

When I look back at why love is focused so much, that is what Jesus focuses on.

We are called to show love, to love each other.

Love goes beyond that love we talk about on Facebook or when we were younger.

We didn’t fully understand what love was all about.

The more I think about love, the more I see God showing me what love is each and everyday, how about you?

It’s easy to focus on the negative, but each day people do things to show their love and appreciate for me, I am thankful for that.

How about you?

Have a great day.
