Liars die?

Everyone lies.

It’s sad to say but it happens.

Some are small lies when we answer, “Does this dress make me look fat?”

We sometimes don’t want to tell the truth because it could hurt someone’s feelings.

But there are bigger lies when we answer, “Where did all money go that was in this account?”

We can have small lies and big lies.

But can lying actually cause death?

In Acts 5, there is a story about Ananias and Sapphira.

This married couple sold a piece of property and brought the money to distribute to the church.

Everyone was doing this and trusting in God to take care of their needs.

Except this time they decided they were going to hold some of it back and tell them it was all there.

They lied about it

Peter knew he lied to him and did it before God.

Verses 3-4 explain this.

This is verse 5…

“When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died.  And great fear seized all who heard what had happened.”

Three hours later the same thing happened to Sapphira.

It ends this section with fear overcame the people.

Shoot, that would freak me out.

Man, and people complain about giving 10 percent to the church for being a faithful follower.

Such an interest section of scripture you don’t hear many people talk about.

The main lie was the fact, Annanias and Sapphira thought they could trick God.

It didn’t work.

It reminds me of saying God, if you (insert request here) I will stop doing (insert sin or problem I have here).

God is smarter then we sometimes give him credit for and we are a lot dumber then we realize sometimes.

Fear seized the Church because these people at the time realized what could happen if they crossed God.

God gave of Jesus for grace and mercy to be for us, it’s crazy how this sequence turn out.

This scripture is preached about so little because it’s crazy to think about sometimes.

What do you give to give and is it the fat and grizzle or something worth giving?

Have a great day.
