Leaving the world in a better place

We all want leave the world in a better place. Nobody wants to be a hindrance or a person without a purpose. What can you do to make this world a better place? Even a hug can make a difference as Dave Matthews Band shows in this music video….

Do we show love to other people? Love is something that is missing from everyday life. Today can be a day to change that like in the DMB video. A guy went around hugging people and at first people turned away but soon it turned into so much more. The difference one person can make in another’s life can be huge.

Romans 16 shows giving love and encouragement to one another. At the end of this book Paul decides to write statements of encouragement. He mentions people and how he loves them in the Lord or people that served lovingly with him or that saved him.

It is really an encouragement for Paul to share and mentioned who did awesome things. Imagine how the world can improve if we do the same thing? Many people in life can be an encouragement and we don’t mention about it.

Let’s try something different. If you read this, try this out. Just like Paul encouraged people by writing for the whole world to see, do the same. Who’s been there for you and what can you say about them for encouragement?

I am going to list people that have been there for me through the good and the bad…

Hailee – You are my everything, I would not be where I am at in life without you. You are the best wife/mom/lover I have ever met. Every day with you is like spending my day with my best friend and we get to have awesome sleep overs! You mean the world to me. I am so glad God chose us to be together. You are the greatest encouragement in my life no matter when I get down.

Jay – You have been there for me through the 17 years we have been friends. You are always there when I need someone to just joke around with or pray and encourage me. I wouldn’t be a minister without you in my life. Love you bro!

Bella – You are always there for me when I need anything. You are always willing to do things for other people at a drop of a hat. No matter what’s going on in my life or what happens I can always confide in you. As a minister it’s tough to find true friends and you are one of the best friends I have ever had.

Zach – My brother literally from another mother. We went through so much in life. Every time I see you it’s like you never moved away. It pains me not to have you in my everyday life. We might not be blood related but you are the closest person I have ever had throughout my life. I care for you so much.

Onna – My only full blooded sibling! We don’t talk as much as we used too. You were always there for us and are so willing to take care of other people just like how you took care of us as our parents fought when we were young. You’re not afraid to speak your mind and I love that about you.

Mom – You went through some of the toughest situations in life and have been a great mom. Through thick and thin you are always there for us and we love you so much.

Dad – You gave me some of the best advice I have ever gotten in life when I told you I was engaged. You said, you know how marriage is not supposed to look. It taught me to learn from others mistakes, I never forgot that. Thanks for not giving up on us when you moved to Nebraska.

Mark W – From the moment I felt God calling me to come to Terre Haute, you and Lynda were always there for us. You were someone I could go to with any questions and always showed genuine care. I have loved our conversations and friendship. I look to many more years of that.

Rob – 2 dollars!!!! LOL! We have been able to joke and have fun while keeping each other accountable in faith. I treasure our Tuesday meetings. I feel encouraged and accountable by having you in my life.

Nathaniel – You were always way smarter than I ever was. You were in a tough situation growing up, but you have survived. I have always thought your ability to deal with bad situations was great and look forward to seeing how God is going to use you in the future. I love you bro.

Kuest – You have always been someone I have strived to be in life. You have one of the best understandings of grace I have ever seen lived out. We don’t talk as much as we used too and I miss that. You are caring loving and funny. I cherish you and having you in my life.

Seth/Cody – Seeing you develop in faith has been such a joy to me. I have known you for five years now and have seen you go from freshman to worship leaders in our Church. I feel God has something in store for your lives and look forward to see how God is going to use you in the future.

Brian and the 7 percent clan – Our friendship goes beyond words to write down. No matter what you are caring and loving individuals. I am truly honored to call you friends.

The boys (As my kids call you) – Luke, Gil, Keaton, Nathan and Justin – For the past couple of years it has been a pleasure having a small group with you. You are all such bright individuals and have been an absolute joy to have in my house every week. I truly believe God has big plans for your life and I pray for you guys every week.

Aunt Chris – You are awesome. We are able to joke around and have fun even in dark times. You have done such an amazing job raising your girls and can take such a bad situation and look at the positive.

There are so many amazing people God puts in our lives and this list can go on forever. I am going to try to write more encouraging notes to people. Rather than just I doing this, what if everyone who read this did this?

Think of who you can encourage and lift up? Paul did a great job of lifting people up in Romans 16 and it’s something we all can do to lift other people up. You can be an encouragement.

Have a great day.
