There are things I find awesome, but will never do. To name
a few: Skydiving, going on the tallest rollercoasters in the world, climbing
Mt. Everest and going to porn conventions as a Christian. You might think, how
can you go to porn conventions as a Christian? There is a ministry based off of
this, xxxchurch.com.
Triple X Church was
started by a couple of guys that repeatedly saw Christians struggle with this
area but didn’t see any action to help people in this industry. They got a
friends’ credit card charged a whole bunch of Bibles and went to a porn
convention with the motto Jesus Loves Pornstars. Rather then talking about porn
and saying it was wrong and the people in the industries are just sinners. They
took a stand to do something about it.
Some people could
come back at them with scripture from 1 Corinthians 8 on this revolutionary
ministry with verses 9, 11-12…
“Be careful, however
that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the
weak…So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your
knowledge. When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak
conscience, you sin against Christ.”
If you take this
scripture out of context, you could say Christians shouldn’t do what this
ministry does because it could cause others to stumble. This is true, you
aren’t supposed to cause your fellow Christian to sin if they feel convicted by
what you are doing. Not everything is how it seems. You could take this
scripture out of context easily. The main point was about eating food that was for idols. Certain people would feel
ok about this, because of Peter in chapter 11 of Acts. It stated he can eat
meat and all of it is blessed by God, even if it was meant for an idol, it’s
ultimately God’s. Therefore, a Christian that understands this can eat this
meat, but if a person isn’t understanding and this causes them to sin you have
to make sure they understand why you do what you do and why it’s not a sin. Our
goal isn’t to cause people especially Christians to stumble by our actions and
this is what xxxchurch.com does.
They help people out
of an industry that no Christian tried to help before. There are people that
feel there is no way out of porn. This comes to those working in the industry
and those who get caught up in looking at porn or so much more. This ministry
is here to help. I would love to go and work one of these trips with
xxxchurch.com but honestly, porn is to much of a temptation to me and a
struggle for me to go and work one of these events. So while I myself can’t
help in this area I try to help people where I can and write blogs for them.
Sometimes it takes
thinking outside of the box for good to happen. This ministry has helped many
people out of porn in so many different ways. Imagine if they didn’t do this
because they thought what they did could cause someone to stumble. I appreciate
these guys and this ministry.
