Knowledge is power

Gaining knowledge can be key.

When I was young I remember the first time I got online.

I was in seventh grade and at my friend Kevin’s house.

We were messing around on the computer he said, hey do you want to chat to people online?

Ummm sure?

I remember thinking it was extremely boring as we dialed in through his only phone line.

It cancelled and disconnected so much I never thought we were going to go online.

After a long time, we connected.

We got in a chat room and started talking to people instantly.

I couldn’t believe I was talking to people online.

I never thought it would catch on.

Wow.

Look at the computer and how we contact people today.

If there is anything the NBC taught us through the more you know, knowledge is power.

I would have invested so much time and effort to see how the internet would impact society.

Some of those people are absolutely huge right now.

Apollos was a great man known for having “a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures.  He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor.”

He was a great man.

Some of Acts 18:27-28…

“When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed.  For he vigorously refuted his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving, from the Scriptures that Jesus was the Messiah.”

Knowledge is power.

He was moving in the right direction and a lot of debate is knowledge.

Not just having knowledge but the ability to listen and refute.

Jesus is the Messiah.

He was and is the savior.

He is there to make everything improve.

Apollos knowledge helped lead people to Christ.

Knowledge is power.

Having knowledge is what can change your life.

You won’t make the same mistakes and struggles when you have knowledge.

You will learn from situations and be able to answer people and have confidence.

What do you need to gain knowledge in?

How can that further your life?

Have a great day.

The More You Know

Cheesy yet effective.

I remember as a kid always seeing the NBC “The More You Know” segments on TV.

They usually had some message and had the standard sound effect after them.

TV shows used to do this, GI Joe had great Public Service Announcements (PSA’s).

What do we know?

What do we fall short in?

There is a ton I don’t know about this world.

Why bad stuff happens to good people?

Why some live a life of luxury and other a life of servitude or pain?

Yet no matter where you are at with your life, there is Jesus.

Jesus reminds us of this in John 8:54-55…

“If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing.  My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me.  Though you do not know him, I know him.  If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word.”

What do you glorify?

We can spent our life glorifying things that have very little meaning.

I know I struggle with glorifying things that don’t matter that much in the essence of the world.

I want a new PlayStation or Xbox, but what’s the value in this?

It’s not going to make me a better person or improve the world.

It would make me want to chill and get away from people.

Jesus was talking to a group of people who claimed to know God but were far from him.

He calls the people out and they weren’t happy about this.

What do you get called out on?

I know people that have rules in conversation like we can talk about everything but politics and religion.

I have to talk about my faith because it’s that important to me.

Knowing that people can go to heaven is special to me and seeing that change take place is worth everything to me.

I am not here in this life to glorify me, but to serve Jesus who is worth glorifying.

What do you glorify?

Is it worth glorifying?

Is it a small gain at the end or eternal life?

What do you think?

Have a wonderful day.
