Sounds easy enough

Easy to assemble, sounds easy enough.

Some of the hardest things I have ever put together were supposed to be easy to assemble.

We have an entertainment center that was like that.

It was easy to assemble and had all the tools you would need inside.

I pulled out the materials and found one of the hardest things I have ever seen put together.

It took me hours to complete.

There was nothing easy about it.

On the box it looked easy enough, but on the inside it was another story.

Not everything is as time seems.

Have you experienced this?

Some things are just as easy as it seems though.

A hot n ready pizza is ready and the cost is only $5.99.

Applebee's pick 2 and an appetizer for $20.

Velcro on kids shoes.

What are some things that pop in your head when it comes to being easy as it seems?

Matthew chapter 3 goes into baptism. Something that is often harder then it seems.

Verse 13-15…

"Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?"

Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented."

There is a lot of debate around baptism.

Why would one need this?

Does it have to be as an adult?

Does my baptism as an infant count?

I'm scared to get in front of people I have never met?

Do I have to come forward at the end of a service in order to do this?

All of these were questions that I had with baptism.

Such an easy symbol can get blown out of proportion.

This is as easy as it seems though.

I made it more complicated than it seems.

I grew up Catholic and was baptized as an infant.

Later on I got tired of the Catholic faith and the Church in general.

I thought everyone who went to Church was a hypocrite.

I always believed in Jesus and God, I didn't believe in the Church.

We still for the most part went to Church until my sophomore year in high school and not much after that.

I was tired of Church.

Campus Life changed my view of Church.

There were Christians that could have fun and also learn about God.

I said the confession of faith during that time and considered myself to be saved.

I still didn't go to Church or believe in Church.

Then I started going to Church with my friend Jason.

Jason's Church believed in baptism.

I didn't think you had to put on a show in order to confess your faith and figured I was good.

I don't remember if it was Jason or not, but someone asked me the question that changed my ideas.

You claim to follow Jesus right?

I replied, "Yes."

Then explained to me why Jesus would get baptized?

If there was one person who was saved by grace, saved by confession of faith, it would be Jesus.

I was dumbfounded.

I had no response.

They also said, "If we are trying to follow Jesus with our lives and walk in his way why don't we get baptized?"

Once again I didn't have a response.

After much thinking, I was stumped.

I later went on to get baptized on November 5, 2000.

Ultimately, it's God's grace that saves us.

I remember doing the confession of faith multiple times, but honestly I can't remember what day that was. I can remember the day I got baptized and that is the one I count.

Everyone has a different view on baptism.

While I think God's grace does cover us and he truly knows who followed him with their lives and follows the only perfect person in Jesus.

But if we are truly trying to walk in the ways of Jesus, I think that a baptism choice has to be made by each person on their own terms.

Some things are easy to assemble and are not.

Some things are easy to assemble and are.

Baptism is easier than people give it credit for.

It's at the beginning in a walk with God not at the end.

What do you think?

Have a great day.
