I am not a fan of the show Friends, but I am a fan of Joey and Chandler.
Hailee loved to watch it. I never enjoyed it until I saw Joey and Chandler.
I could deal with the other lame characters just so I could see these guys.
One of the memorable moments that stands out in my head was a swan/duck race around the apartment between Phoebe and Joey.
Joey starts out, ready, set, go!
After the go Joey puts his foot up to block Phoebe's duck.
Phoebe yells, "No fair."
Joey responds, "Judge's ruling…..allowed…..Tough call, tough call."
Phoebe nods her head in understanding and says, "Yeah."
This started me saying the phrase, "I'll be the judge of that."
It works out really well in youth group settings in a joking and loving way.
The final decision came down to me.
Sometimes people liked this sometimes they didn't.
Either way it was funny to me.
Often at times we become very judgmental people.
Honestly I don't know what we would do with our times if we didn't judge other people.
It's easy to point out others faults.
We see a big person eating fast food, we think we know why he's fat.
We see a friend shopping who's struggling with money go to the mall and spend a ton of money on clothes on a credit card. We know why their broke.
We see somebody stressing out about their money but driving the newest car or having the latest and greatest cell phone.
We see someone wearing a suit on Sunday at a restaurant praying over there meal then complaining about the slightest thing wrong with everything and getting angry about it. Obviously this person isn't living out their faith.
We judge people more then we think.
Is this a bad thing?
Matthew Chapter 7 verses 1-6 is titled Judging Others. Verse 1 and 5…
"Do not judge or you too will be judged…You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
We get in the habit of judging other people.
Jesus says whatever we judge, we will be judged that same way.
Harsh.
Jesus offended people because of how blunt he was and how right he was.
We all get into the bad habit of judging other people.
Looking at the wrong in their life and obviously have the answer to what they need to change in order to make it better.
Through all this we have things that are wrong with us.
We are wrong with our money, our health, our attitude on life, our ability to live our out our faith.
Yet we feel we have the ability to judge other people?
Sometimes we will even justify how we can do this when we really have no right to do this.
The math doesn't add up sometimes.
What can you change in your own life to today to make you focus on improving you and not judging someone else?
Hailee and I are the in process of getting our money situation better. We have to make little sacrifices everyday in order for this to work.
What about you?
We all have things we need to work on to be better people.
We can be more then "The judge of that."
Through less judging we will truly be happy.
Have a great day.
