Being Sick

Being sick is never fun.

While there are those little times of being sick, flu, cold's, infections etc.

There are other times we are really sick.

I have two of these other sicknesses.

It's nothing overly sensitive. I have high cholesterol and colitis.

It's nothing like having heart disease or cancer but requires me to take pills.

Between these diseases I have to take 10 pills a day.

On top of that I take vitamins (colitis is known to strip vitamins and minerals from your body) and triple strength bio flex (After two reconstructive knee surgeries my specialist told me to take this daily to rebuild cartilage in my knees).

This brings me up to 14 pills a day.

In a week that is 98 pills a week.

In any given month that is 420 pills and 5,096 in a year.

You now know why insurance companies don't like me, lol.

Yet as sick as these number look, it could be a lot worse.

Before I found out I had colitis, they told me there were two possibilities cancer and colitis.

I will take colitis every single time over cancer.

I wish I could be off these medicines, but it's just not in the cards.

After people found out Jesus could heal diseases, they flocked to come and see him.

Matthew 8:16….

When evening came, many who were demon possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick."

Jesus healed them all.

When people found out what Jesus could do they made their way to him.

He could no longer go into the cities for how packed people were around him that he had to stay on the outside of the city.

People took advantage of the ability to be healed like they never were before.

We all want to be healed.

Many people would give their lives to someone that did this for them.

Yet this isn't recorded in the Bible.

People were healed but did not turn their lives over to Christ.

At times people swear to God, "I swear I will stop smoking if you heal my cat God," one might say.

The cat might be healed, but that person keeps on smoking.

People were happy to be healed so why would they need Jesus anymore?

This is why Jesus says his main message was to teach not to heal, because healing did not produce results.

Some of the hardest building times for us is when something bad happens.

When someone dies, when we are tight on money or when someone is really sick, we have to have faith that things are going to improve.

If everything was given to us there would be no need for faith.

Even when I am sick, when I take my 14 pills a day, I still have the ability to praise God because there is still so much good in my life.
