The Wings are up 2-0 in their series and are two games away from being in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Everyone knew the Red Wings had talent to make it their but even those who had great faith were doubting how the Wings would do in the playoffs due to goaltending.
Chris Osgood had the worst regular season of his career.
He allowed an average of 1 goal more per game this year, in hockey numbers that is huge.
Many people started to believe that the Wings could go far if they got a different goalie.
I have always been an Osgood fan even when he left the Wings and was with New York then St. Louis.
No matter how bad the teams he played with were, he got two below average teams to the playoffs.
Now there were a lot of doubters this year.
Osgood's too old, he just doesn't have it anymore.
People lost their faith in his abilities. I never did and I am glad the Red Wings coaching staff didn't either.
Osgood currently has the second lowest goals against in the playoffs and the past two games has had to stop 30 plus shots.
Osgood is playing great, yet many people did not have faith that he could do the job.
There comes a point with even those who believed in the Wings, did not believe in Osgood.
They lacked faith.
Jesus is talking to a man who was a gentile, he was not Jewish yet he came before the Jewish leader and asked Jesus to heal his servant.
Jesus wanted to go to the man's house to heal him, this man said he was not worthy to have Jesus in his house.
Jesus responds with this in Matthew Chapter 8 some of verse 10-12…
"I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
This left me scratching my head.
Why would tell Jesus he does not want him in his house show his faith?
This was a man of power, who was over people.
He recognize that he wasn't worthy of Jesus (Just like many of us today).
Jesus praised him for how strong his faith was and said because of this, many Gentiles (What this man was) would be saved and those from the Jewish background would not.
This man had faith in Jesus, Jesus never ended up going to his house yet healed the man after this quote.
The beautiful thing about Jesus, we are all unworthy of him yet he spends time with us.
We are just sinners who often lack faith in his abilities.
This man had faith in Jesus.
Notice how it's faith that saves a man and not knowledge.
Jesus never says it's knowledge that saves a man.
There are tons of people that know who Jesus is and what he has done, but have no faith.
This man did not grow up with faith.
Yet he had faith in Jesus.
Knowledge does not save us.
The devil had knowledge of Jesus and God yet he won't be in heaven.
Knowledge doesn't save us, it's faith.
What can you do to improve your faith, to trust Jesus more?
Faith in Jesus will save us in ways we can never imagine.
Have a great day.
