Choose your own adventure

As a kid, I loved the "Choose your own adventure" books.

As you read you have the opportunity to choose what happened next.

Sometimes you choose wrong and it leads you down a direction you wouldn't want to go.

Sometimes you choose right and it leads you down a good road.

There were multiple times you had to choose the direction you went in.

Just like the book, in life we are given choices everyday.

From small to large: do we brush our teeth today? Do we feed our kids waffles or cereal for breakfast? Am I going to work out today?

With all choices we have results.

If we don't brush our teeth, we might have some bad smelling breath and nobody will want to talk to us.

If we feed our kids certain things are they going to eat them or just leave them on the table and complain they are hungry.

Are we moving towards a healthy direction by working out or staying out of shape?

It's our own adventure and it's our choice.

We are given a choice to follow Jesus or not.

Jesus went through some towns and did a lot of his major healings through the towns of Korazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum.

The people saw this amazing miracles live, no tricks.

They had a choice to follow this man and what they just saw or turn away.

What do you think they did?

Matthew 11 verse 20…

"Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent."

They had a choice to turn from their sin and follow Jesus.

In their own adventure they chose not to.

So Jesus does something rare in these cities, he denounces them.

They had their chance to turn towards him after seeing what he did, but they did not.

Jesus goes on to tell them if he went to other places like Sodom, they would have repented and turn towards him.

Yet these places turned away.

Miracles are amazing, but they didn't change life then.

Would they today?

Either way, we face different challenges.

Some of the challenges we face today: how are we going to pay for the vet bill for our dog? My stomach is feeling better, should I still get it checked out? How are we going to sleep with Ty's schedule? How are we going to get through next week without Sandee being around?

What are some challenges you face?

We have to face them, we can't run and hide from what's in front of us.

Jesus offered a chance for people to not hurt anymore, to heal people, to perform miracles.

People went on their life without him.

You have a choice to live for Christ or not.

To repent (Apologize and turn away from the wrong you have done in your life) and believe in Jesus.

If you at one point did follow Jesus but turned away, you can still repent and turn back towards him.

Life is an adventure which God gives us free will to do what we want and believe what we want.

What do you believe?

What's the adventure you choose?

Where is it going to take you in life?

Will it make you happy today and miserable later?

I am glad I have Jesus and I am trying to be closer to him, but at times I struggle.

I still repent and turn towards him, I am a Christian I never claim to be perfect but follow one that is.

Who are you and what's your adventure?

Remember to choose your path wisely.

Have a great day.
