How fast can news spread?
News can spread so quick about certain subjects.
Working in the media you can see how quick some news can spread.
Working in newspaper, you were able to see that people did not want to wait till morning to find out.
People wanted information almost as quick as it happens.
Working at the Lansing State Journal, I saw where the newspaper changed to reach people quicker.
Rather than having to wait until morning to find out about high school football or basketball.
They had a new system once you typed in the information it would go to the website.
You don't have to wait till morning to find out results.
They also went with blogs where writers could basically write a column and instead of showing up the next day it appears whenever they finish it.
There was also the mid day updates in which they would tell breaking news as it happens with more information to come later.
We are in an instant society.
Were what happens to people are instantly found out.
Personal news spreads quick through: Facebook, MySpace, texting, e-mail to name a few.
Yet it's still not as fast as word of mouth.
People have the ability to spread news so quick it's not even funny.
Usually it's not good news, it's the bad.
In high school, one bad thing happens, everyone seems to know about it by the end of the day.
It seemed like everyone in school knew who was pregnant, who was leaving school to get an abortion, brought alcohol to school and was drinking throughout the day.
News can spread quick and it's only getting quicker.
Have you seen this happen?
Usually it's bad news that spreads quick.
The stuff that is so good you have to gossip about it as soon as you find out.
It's harder for good news to pass on.
It would have to be something amazing for people to find out.
Jesus comes through and does this.
In one section Jesus heals a women who was subject to bleeding (This meant she wasn't allowed to go into the Church of that time (The Temple) and she was an outcast of society) for 12 years and a girl that died.
Jesus heals the women and even when the mourners have showed up for the girl, Jesus sends them away and heals the girl.
This is what the section ends with in Matthew 9:26…
"News of this spread through all that region."
Good news finally is spread.
It wasn't bad gossip it was news that a reject in society was healed and given back her status and someone was dead now is alive.
How often to do get good news spread?
I can think of many times that I have heard bad news spread, but to think about the good news that has spread, that is hard.
Why is this?
Why do we struggle so much with spreading on the good news?
When it comes to good news, there is one person that can consistently be brought up, Jesus.
No matter the wrong we did in our life, he is always there for us.
He takes away all the mistakes of the world when we believe in him and make a commitment to follow him.
This is the best news to spread.
There are things Jesus has done for each and every one of us that nobody could ever do for us.
Instead of focusing on spreading the bad news, imagine spreading the good news.
How will that change people?
How will that change us?
Have a great day.
