God has the ability to use people you wouldn't think of.
In high school, the last thing in my mind would have been to go into ministry.
I was a sports writer.
That was my dream.
I thought all people in the Church were hypocrites, why on earth would I ever step foot in there?
Even more, why would I ever become a minister?
While I always did believe in God and Jesus, I grew up Catholic.
I never believed in the Church.
Yet God used me and still uses me.
God changed me, changed my view on the Church and changed my view of my purpose in life.
For those I went to high school with or know about me getting in trouble in high school with one teacher.
(All my years of school, I was only suspended once).
Justin Schaub had this teacher a year or so ago and dropped my name and said I was a minister. (Justin you might have to remind me exactly what they said).
It was something along, he's a minister now? I never saw that happening.
If you don't think God can change you, he did to me.
God has that ability to use people that were far from him.
Matthew 9:9 explains near the end how Matthew got called to be a disciple…
"…Jesus said, "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
Jesus amazed the Jewish leaders of that time, they couldn't believe he would eat with tax collectors (One of the worst people around during that time).
When the leaders were discussing this, Jesus heard them then spoke up. Verse 12-13…
"It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Wow, Jesus wanted the rejects.
The people nobody wanted to be around.
Nobody liked Matthew, nobody respected what he did with his life.
Do you ever feel like that?
Jesus called him to serve him, just like many other people.
Are you happy with who you are today?
What you are doing with your life?
Jesus has a special purpose for each and every one of us.
No matter how far you are away from him, Jesus can always change and mold us to be more like him.
I could imagine people in high school laughing at me going into ministry.
But now that I am here, I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
Have you found your purpose in life?
If God can change me (He still does everyday) he can do the same with you.
Have a great day.
