The challenge

We all have different challenges that we face.

Right now one of the current challenges I face is trying to balance the addition of another kid along with ministry.

It’s hard to balance.

Ministry they something is something where you can coast through just as easily as you can work yourself into an early grave.

I am at a Church that is great with trying to balance things. I was told once I get 40 hours in a week (Sunday is a volunteer day) to go home and spend time with my family.

Balancing is a hard act with the fact ministry is not a 9-5 job.

Last week I was gone all week and when I came back home I was gone to do a wedding.

Between Monday and Saturday I worked a total of 87 hours. While I love what I do and thank God, it’s a week when I am away from my family.

Then this week I was gone Monday night, Tuesday and tonight I am gone to the Rock Basketball camp. Being gone at night is esp. tough when Hailee needs help putting the kids to bed.

It’s tough to balance and a challenge.

We all have different challenges, what are yours?

Peter had a different challenge, he saw Jesus walking on water and was called out to visit him.

This is that account in Matthew 14:28-30…

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
Come,” he said.
The Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Peter did something I don’t think any of us have done, walk on water.

What a challenge, but he fell short.

As soon as the wind hit, he lost faith and began to sink.

Just like us, Peter was up for the challenge, but soon as it got tough we often start to sink.

Faith is easier said then done.

We always face different challenges.

For me it’s balancing three kids, a wife and a ministry.

What’s a challenge to you right now?

Just like Peter we all might be willing to claim we have faith, but our actions represent our faith.

When we go through tough challenges do we give up or try harder?

It’s easier to say I am going to do a challenge then it is to follow through.

Whatever challenges are before you, I hope and pray that you are able to work through them.

Have a great day.
