Sometimes we have long days at work.
I have days where I have started work at 5:30 in the morning and not left until 1 a.m.
As an hourly wage person, it was crazy, but the paycheck was worth it.
It was awesome to get that check when you work that long.
Nothing would tick me off then to see someone coming and working for the last hour and getting the same pay.
I would say more than this, but it would be something like…
ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!!!!
I just couldn't believe that would happen.
Yet this is the story Jesus told in Matthew 20:1-16.
Workers started at the beginning of the day for a promised wage and the people that started work later got the same page.
Some worked as few as an hour.
Doesn't seem fair does it?
In the story Jesus told, the people were mad and went to the owner.
This is what the owner said to the mad people...
"Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave you.
Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous? "So the last will be first, and the first will be last."
I am not going to lie, I would be ticked.
Frustrated and angry, how could the owner do that?
Yet this is what Jesus does for us.
Some people have believed and followed him as long they've been alive.
Some started believing in Jesus when they were in high school, others in their mid 30's.
Some give their life to Jesus just before passing from this life.
The beautiful thing, Jesus offers the same thing to each of us no matter where we are at.
We have the choice to accept Christ, we all get the same reward and it's worth it.
No matter where we are at in our lives Jesus is always there for us.
Wanting us to accept the life he lived, what he did on the cross for us and what he did rising from the dead.
When we accept that then follow him and give our life to follow him we will be rewarded.
No matter what our age, Jesus wants to be a part of our lives no matter how much we screwed up.
Where are you at with Jesus?
Have a great day.
