Two blind men

Two blind men were sitting by the roadside…

First read, I thought, "Man this sounds like a bad joke not a story in the Bible."

Yet it is a story in the Bible.

Two blind people were sitting on the road when they heard Jesus was coming by.

They yelled to Jesus in the end of Matthew 20 verses 30-31…

"Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"

They got no response after the first time so they yelled again.

Jesus had compassion on the blind men and gave them their sight.

Compassion.

This was something Jesus was known for giving compassion to the one's nobody else loved.

There are people all around us who need compassion.

We just need to be loved and cared for.

It's so much easier to turn your head and ignore people.

It's so easy to be guilty of this and I fall in this boat more often then I want to admit.

Why do we have trouble showing compassion but then expect it from other people?

Compassion goes two ways, from one person to another.

It involves more than just one person.

It's like a star receiver complaining about why he never gets the ball then the ball gets thrown his way as a result and the guy drops the ball.

Rather than apologizing he starts complaining about how his quarterback doesn't have a good arm.

What can we do to get better at showing other people compassion, how can we do this over the weekend?

Have a great day.
