There are some people that are very helpful.
They would give up their personal time to help others.
I think this is what we are called to do.
We are called to serve and love other people.
I was in a small group at South Lansing Christian Church that was great.
When would have helping days, I can't remember what we called them, it was like Habitat for Lauritzens (Or whoever the project was for).
The small group was there to help other people.
This was help with moving someone in and out of their place, helping to do renovations.
Over the year I remember helping multiple people move, helping paint and break apart sidewalks.
We were there to help one another out.
We were there to serve.
You can really see where people stand when it comes to serving or helping people.
When it came time to move from our house in Lansing to Saranac, the majority of people helping came from this small group.
When we got to our house 45 minutes away, there was a group of family and friends there to help us move in.
You can really feel the love when someone gives up their own personal time to help someone move.
There were other people we mentioned that we were moving to and they never called us or showed up.
You can really see where someone is with their ability to help serve.
Jesus talks about how some people served and some people didn't.
He explains the people that did in Matthew 25:35-36, 40…
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me…..The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
He continues on to tell what would happen to the people that did not do anything for him and they would pay.
Everyone can either serve or not serve and you will get your reward in the end.
If you did not serve you will see pain and the words he uses is eternal punishment but if you did good, you get eternal life.
Part of having Jesus is having the ability to help those who need help.
Not just looking for your best interest but looking for others best interest.
How can you make that happen today?
How about this weekend?
Who could really use your help?
I love the fact I have friends and family to help me when I need help, I can call on them and they will be there in a drop of a hat.
Can you be one of those people to someone else?
Have a great day.
