Sometimes doing the smallest thing can have the greatest reward.
I think of chores around the house like this.
Hailee does an amazing job as a stay at home mom (I really don't tell her that enough).
Once every while I will try to do just a small task for her just to help her out, I try to make this a normal occurrence.
Sometimes I do sometimes I don't.
It's amazing how the smallest thing could make the day go smoother.
One task I try to do normally is let the dog out in the morning.
It really doesn't feel like I am doing much and can seem pretty pointless.
What this allows for is Hailee to focus getting three kids ready and out the door by 7:45.
With a dog running around whining to go outside and to eat, it can just be to much.
So Hailee asked me if I could do this, at first I thought it seemed pretty pointless and didn't understand why.
Yet the smallest thing can help someone out so much.
I am not saying this to brag or show what I do for my wife.
I am showing this because it's amazing how something as small as letting out the dog can help someone out.
Do you have any small task that someone does for you to help you out? Explain.
It's the small things that can matter the most.
Jesus tells the story of a three people he entrusts with money.
The first took the money and doubled the amount given to him to give back to his master.
So did the second.
The third took the money and buried to keep it safe.
The first two were told this in Matthew 25:21….
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
Just a few things, the master was testing them.
The first two past the test and were rewarded as a result, the third failed.
Sometimes the smallest task can have the greatest impact.
Sometimes this is the way work is.
When we do a small task well, we will be rewarded with bigger tasks later.
If we can't do a small task well, what makes us think we will be allowed to do more tasks?
Whether it's a chore around the house or a small project at work, the smallest can have a great reward.
Now, not everyone small thing we do we will be rewarded for, but it still doesn't mean the job needs to be done.
My friend Brian was a manager a Burger King (Brian fix this if I tell it wrong).
The corporate office was coming down to check their store.
This meant everything had to be perfect.
So they cleaned everything, even things that there was no point taking apart to clean.
When the office people came by, they were short staffed.
Rather than observing how they handled it.
They asked where they could help and jumped in to help.
I thought this was amazing, six figure Burger King corparte office people making burgers.
They had large responsibilities but also knew how to do the smallest task.
If we can't do the smallest task we can't be trusted to do a larger task.
The same could be said about serving God and at work.
If we don't serve when there is a small task, how can we serve when there is a large task.
What do you think?
Have a great day.
