At global gym, were better then you, and we know it.
A line from a movie in which the people at this gym thought they were better then others.
While this came from a comical movie, we live our lives like this.
We don't come out and say it, but we do it by our actions.
We have people in our lives whether at our school, work, neighborhood or Church that we know are struggling yet we don't help them.
If were a really good Christian, we will say on their Facebook (Or maybe even in person) when their struggling, "I will send up a prayer for you." (This is full of sarcasm! Prayer is an action, often we forget we can be an answer to a prayer.)
I once heard a story about how my friend Beth was in a women's bible study.
They were talking about the Church and how they do a good job of helping people out for the most part.
They felt like they did a good part.
Beth reminded them that in the Acts 2 Church people gave whatever they had to others in the Church.
The person with the million dollar house or well off house often gave or sold it and gave the money to the Church to help the poor people, everyone lived as one.
Beth was explain that we often think we do a good job with this, but we are far from it.
It surprised the people in the Bible study who thought they were living lives as great Christians.
Our Churches are filled with people like this.
Even without noticing it, we get up on our high horse and think we are better than others.
We don't say it, we show it.
This is one of the first things that surprised people with Jesus.
He ate with WHO?
Jesus would eat with the people nobody would eat with.
Mark 2:16…
"When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
They were shocked and amazed at the people he would eat with.
In their time if you were poor, physically hurt/sick or a non Jew to start, they did not hang out with you.
They thought God was obviously punishing these people so they stayed away.
These were the people Jesus went too.
People were shocked and amazed.
Jesus wanted to show he was for everyone, rich or poor, sick or healthy.
Jesus is for us.
If you feel like you are far from Jesus, you are a lot closer then you think.
To this day, if Jesus came back tomorrow, I don't expect him to hang out with me.
I see him going into the areas of our town nobody goes into.
The bars and recreation places no Christian goes too.
Jesus didn't come to find the saved, he came to find the lost.
No matter how far Jesus is from you, he wants to be close to you.
Nobody deserves to be alone, and Jesus offers that opportunity to never be alone again.
If you aren't following Christ, what's stopping you?
If you are following Christ, what will it take to get off the high horse and start impacting people that need him the most?
Have a great day.
