I love Connor, no matter how hard it is to understand sometimes.
Connor is still developing his words and it's a work in progress.
Some things you can understand and some things we have no clue at.
Often times I feel like a translator when we are out in public.
Connor's voice is improving, but sometimes it's impossible to understand him.
Often times we don't understand what we hear.
This ever happen to you?
A while ago Hailee and I were driving down 127. It's an area where the speed goes from 70 to 55.
I was driving down the road and I heard Hailee say, "It's hot."
So I started role down the window wondering why she didn't role down her own window.
Hailee gives me a really puzzled look.
She said, "Joel, I said there was a cop!"
I reply, "Oh, I thought you said you were hot."
She wasn't impressed.
I think I was on cruise and didn't have to worry about being pulled over, but we miss what people say sometimes.
Faith can be the same way.
We think we understand what we are supposed to do, but often we couldn't be further from the truth.
The disciples were the same way.
Jesus tells them this in Mark 8:15…
"Be careful," Jesus warned them. "Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod."
They thought he was talking about literal bread.
Instead he was telling them to watch out for the Pharisees and Herod for just like to much yeast can be a problem in bread, Pharisees and Herod could be a problem to so watch out.
They completely missed the point.
Often times we struggle with this more than the disciples.
We hear things and often are mistaken.
Just like I was with Hailee and it's hot.
The same thing is often true with what we hear.
There are hidden lingo's and meanings or we might just completely be off with what someone is saying to us.
We miss what other people are saying just like we can miss what God is telling us.
Either way, listening is key.
The better we listen and the more we comprehend the better the situation would be.
How well to you listen?
How can we improve?
Have a great day.
