Spit shine

Once every while I will come across a movie set in older times when the person does a spit shine for shoes.

They spit on the shoes or on the rag and wipe the shoes clean.

I always wondered if or how long ago they did this?

I have also wondered why did people stop doing the shoe cleaning thing?

I have rarely seen one of these chairs to get your shoes cleaned.

Then again I rarely clean my shoes, and I only have two pairs of shoes that would require a cleaning.

A spit clean just doesn't happen anymore for a good reason I would imagine.

Yet at one point this might have been an acceptable practice.

Spit could clean glasses too.

Jesus used spit too.

There was a man who was deaf and mute.

Listen to what Jesus does to the man and how he is healed in Mark 7:33-35…

"After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man's ears. Then he spit and touched the man's tongue. He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, "Ephphatha!" (which means, "Be opened!"). At this, the man's ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly."

He spit then touched the man's tongue.

I would feel a little weird by this, but then again if you are deaf and mute, and hear there is a man healing people, I would do everything in my power to see the man.

People were healed just by going to Jesus and touching his coat, having him use his spit.

Today, we don't even have to go that far to be healed.

Now this doesn't mean that we will be physically healed.

But there are things we can pray to God or get help with just by seeking Jesus.

Whether by praying yourself or by going to a Church and getting help.

Jesus has so much power.

He has the power to forgive us when nobody else would, he accepts us and loves us.

No matter how far we are from Jesus, we are never that far away.

Jesus has power and he's always within reach.

Got something on your mind?

Jesus is always there to share it with him.

Have a great day.
