Some people just don't feel loved.
They may have brought dishonor to their family or to themselves.
Teen pregnancy is one of those times.
It's very hard for people to deal with.
How do you respond to this?
How would that person feel?
How would you feel if a teen got pregnant and you and you partner were trying unsuccessfully to have a child?
They say you know you are getting old when you are actually excited that your friends are pregnant.
But when you are younger it's hard.
It's different when you know that some people are pregnant even in middle school.
I saw this with a seventh grader when I was in eighth grade.
It must be very hard for those people and my deep sympathies go with those people.
In some circles they are instantly outcast, shunned by their friends as they go along in their pregnancy and instantly a topic of gossip.
Every child is a blessing, but not every situation.
It's hard to feel that aloneness, yet there is still hope.
I have seen a handful of people go through this and come out stronger in the end, whether it's by maturing real quick and being a good parent.
Or working hard through school or by going full term and giving the baby up for adoption.
If you are someone going through this or know someone that is, there are still people there with you even when it feel like there is not.
God is there with us no matter what.
In Luke they tell the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth.
They were both devoted followers of faith but yet as they went up in age, they had no children.
This was great disgrace at the time.
You were blessed by having babies and just like if you were hurt people viewed you as doing something to oppose God, the same thing was true for women without having kids.
Finally God blessed them with a child when they were up in age, it says old.
In Luke 1:25, Elizabeth shares this…
"The Lord has done this for me. In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people."
She was disgraced.
Not only was everyone else pregnant around her, this was most likely when their kids would be at the age when they started having kids.
It was hard, yet she still followed God.
Being shamed is never a good thing.
Yet God gives us comfort and strength, he gives us a reason to be faithful even through the tough times.
If we know people that are struggling through this, hopefully this will make things easier.
How can you help someone that feels disgraced?
Have a great day.
