Extra, Extra read all about it

News can spread so quickly.

Between the internet, texting and everything else technology offers, we find ourselves with news almost as instantly as it happens.

It's really amazing.

While it does happen with good news, this usually happens with bad news.

We find out quick about someone dying, someone getting pregnant by accident and the list could go on and on.

As soon as news happens we know about it.

It's crazy how that happens.

Are you ever surprised by that?

Word of mouth is the way most things could spread in the past, now a day we with have the internet, Facebook, texting and twittering.

During Jesus time, news spread fast about him.

He went and healed a man that was demon possessed.

Afterwards this was said in Luke 4:36-37…

"All the people were amazed and said to each other, "What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!" And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area."

News spread about him quickly.

While this wasn't as quick as today, the news spread about Jesus that the people knew when he was coming into town and how he was teaching and healing people.

It was good news.

How often is what we pass on not good news and sometimes downright gossip?

As Christians we often try to make it not gossip by throwing this simple phrase in there…

"Did you hear what happened to (Make up Name daughter)? they could really use our prayers. They just found out their daughter is 15 and might be pregnant. Please pray for them."

This isn't good news and is flat out gossip.

This isn't what Jesus brought about.

They were so shocked by the things he taught and did that the word spread about him.

This was good news.

Jesus is still here today, he is there to help us through the good and the tough times.

No matter what he is always there for us when we think no one is there for us.

What do you think you need to do today?

What can happen if we stopped gossiping so much?

What would happen if you made a decision to follow Christ?

We can change for the better.

It's our choice, what are you going to do today?
