Hide and Seek

Hide and seek is a fun game.

The other day we were calling for Nevaeh.

We thought she was upstairs in her room.

We were mistaken.

She hid in a small spot in between the couch and the wall.

It was a spot that we passed by multiple times.

Hailee told Nevaeh that would be a great spot for hide and seek.

Once every while we will play a game of hide and seek.

It’s fun and it can be surprising where people go, especially with kids.

You want to find where they went and it can get tricky.

When someone truly finds a good hiding spot, it’s great to be the one to find them.

Hide and seek can play a role in faith.

There was a man nobody liked.

He would be like the Sheriff of Nottingham in the story of Robin Hood.

Nobody liked this guy.

He took taxes and was hated.

This man named Zacchaeus heard Jesus was coming.

He was a short man and had to get up into a tree to see him.

Jesus saw him, told him to come down and he would stay at his house.

This was something a religious leader wouldn’t be caught dead doing, staying in the house of a sinner.

During this time, Zacchaeus realized the wrong of his ways.

He said he would give half of what he had to the poor and payback four times the amount of what he took from the people.

Jesus had this to say about the man in Luke 19:9-10…

“Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

Jesus came to save what was lost.

When we don’t know Christ, in a way we are lost.

We are living to please ourselves (This can even be a struggle after committing ourselves to Christ) instead of Jesus and others.

Hide and seek is a great game, for the longest time I played this with God.

The thing about seeking God, he is right in front of us and all we have to do is look for him.

I know multiple people are turned off from Church right now.

I used to be the same way.

But God sought me out and I could feel it, but did nothing about it.

I had to seek God out in order to find out what I have been missing all along.

There is a God who wants you not to hide from him and to seek him.

Sometimes we miss the point.

What are you seeking?

What are you missing?

Are you happy with what you find that you are seeking?

Have a great day.
