Karma and Christianity, can you believe in both?

Some things do go together…

• Peanut butter and jelly
• Syrup and pancakes
• Carmel and apple
• Lions and Super Bowl

Ok maybe not the last one….yet.

There is one thing that I have yet to find goes together, Karma and Christianity.

Karma comes from more of a Buddhist/Hindu background and basically is…

Bad things will happen from bad actions and good things will happen from good actions.

When someone goes to jail for 20 years, they obviously did something bad and bad things will happen to that person.

This isn’t true.

Bad things happen to good people and there is no way to explain this.

One example is Jesus.

This is what the leaders of the land said when they talked to Jesus in Luke 23:13-15…

“You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him. Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death.”

Yet the people wanted him dead.

Pilate gave them the choice, release Jesus or release Barabbas.

Barabbas was in jail for murder.

They chose Barabbas.

We are going to find out about a painful death taken place by an innocent man in the next section.

Where is Karma in this?

Jesus didn’t do anything wrong and a murderer gets set free?

In our world, today bad things do happen to good people.

This is why God gives us grace through the death of Jesus.

Grace counteracts Karma.

Grace is not getting what you deserve.

None of us deserve to go to heaven.

We all make mistakes and are not worthy.

But through this concept of grace and having faith in Jesus, we get to go to heaven.

Bad things do happen to good people and for that I am sorry.

I know great people that have gotten cancer or a disease without a cure and they were amazing people.

God grace covers all.

Which will you believe Karma or Christianity?

Have a great day.
