Upsets in the NCAA tourney

Each year I set up an NCAA tourney bracket on yahoo.

It’s always a lot of fun, I usually don’t do that great in it.

I am really bad at choosing teams.

I am a hometown guy and usually set up MSU going pretty far in the tournament.

I have been involved in sports writing for years and it doesn’t improve my brackets.

While I like to see if I am good, usually I am all talk.

If you think you could be me, bring it on! 

Sometimes we think we know more than we do.

We walk around like we have a tremendous amount of knowledge when the opposite can be true.

We are thickheaded.

This is one of the problems with us and faith and Church, we can have very skewed versions of both.

Some of the most faithful people of Jesus time were a little off with their faith.

Jesus warns us about these types of leaders in Luke 20:46-47…

“Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. They devour widows houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.”

These were people that claimed to be the spiritual leaders of the time and they fell short of the people they were supposed to be.

Ever feel like you fall short of the people you could be?

I fall short as a religious leader, sometimes it feels like Judas can be a better follower of Christ then me.

I don’t say this to say I am doing bad, but there is a lot I need to work on.

I am not thickheaded and I am trying to move in the right direction.

The more we make Christ the center and not our own opinions we head in the right direction.

Following Christ is a lifelong pursuit.

Sometimes you do great, sometimes not so well.

I am continuing to strive to be more like Christ and less like me.

I pretend to know who is going to do well in the NCAA tournament, most of the time I fall short.

I feel like I am improving in my relationship with Christ and that is changing my thinking of some of the things I spend time doing.

I don’t want to be described as Jesus did with the teachers of the law.

I am trying to be the best follower of Christ I can be and it’s changing my life for the better.

What about you?

Have a great day.
