Why a penny?

We like to question ideas, values and norms.

We question many things in life…

• Religious beliefs
• True love
• Someone else’s hidden agenda
• Why the Lions can’t win the Super Bowl

In the first episode of one of my favorite shows, an automatic door was broken and the Janitor was fixing it.

A doctor walked by and saw it was broken and said maybe someone stuck a penny in it.

The Janitor replied, “Why a penny?”

The Janitor told him if I find a penny in there I am coming after you.

We are people of doubt and belief.

Sometimes it takes a lot to believe in something.

This isn’t always a bad thing, but at time it can be.

Before I came to faith, I had a ton of questions that I wanted answered.

I realized after a while, I would never have all my questions answered.

There comes a time when faith takes over.

The Pharisees were doubtful of Jesus and always tried to ask him questions to trick him.

After seeing him perform miracles and great teaching, they asked him, “Who gave you this authority?”

He knew their priorities and asked them, “Was John’s baptism from man or from heaven?”

They knew if they said from man, they would be stoned by the people because the people believed he was a prophet.

If they answered from heaven, Jesus would ask them why didn’t they believe in him.

They were stumped and answered, we don’t know.

Jesus replied in Luke 20:8…

“Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”

Why would Jesus answer their question if they couldn’t answer his?

We question a lot in life.

Faith is one of them.

I try to answer what I can in faith, but honestly, if you want all your questions in faith answered, you will fall short.

If you have any question with faith, call me, message me or any other way possible and I will answer the question as best as I can.

There most likely no question that will answer everything you ever wanted.

At some point faith takes over.

Have a great day.
