Believe what you hear

Do we believe what we hear?

There are times I believe what people tell me and other times I don’t.

This could be serious or in a joking matter.

According to our son Connor right now, he wants every toy advertised on Nick Jr.

Connor constantly says, “I want that, I want that, I want that.”

Does he truly want that?

Maybe.

Two minutes later you could ask him what he wants and he has no idea.

We hear different stories and thoughts everyday.

Do we believe what we hear?

Sometimes the truth gets embellished.

I know a kid that was in a car accident.

Him and his friend were stopped at a light.

A truck two cars behind him didn’t stop fast enough and hit the car behind them.

That caused that car to hit their car.

It wasn’t a bad crash, they had some whiplash and went to the hospital to get checked out.

Everything was fine and two hours later they were at home.

One week later this person in the accident runs into someone who asked about the crash.

When they saw this person in the crash they said, “Man, I didn’t think I would see you here…I heard you were in a car crash where someone died and you got airlifted to Indy.”

This person was shocked with the story.

Some of the things we hear make no sense at all or have a lot of falsehood behind them.

People were persecuting Jesus for working on his day off.

Jesus spoke back to his attackers and in the middle of his explanation said this in John 5:24…

“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”

Do you believe what you hear?

Jesus came down died and yesterday we recognize that he was risen from the dead.

When we believe this with our hearts and live through faith in Jesus, we get eternal life.

There isn’t a hidden clause.

To have eternal life takes faith in Jesus.

Jesus said, “Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned.”

Will you believe what you just read?

If you never had before, this can be a start to a new direction in life.

Which way are you heading in your life?

What’s worth believing and what is not?

Think about this today.

Have a great day.
