Long time no see

There are people in my life I have not seen in a while. Not by choice, but sometimes circumstances just keep us away. For the most part I really miss seeing family. I have missed our last three dirtball weekends (My annual family camping trip on my mom’s side of the family. This is an awesome weekend where up to 80 people of my family get together to go camping.) I miss seeing my siblings and parents. I have some joy this weekend with my brother Zach coming in this weekend from Nebraska. He is driving 10 plus hours here just to hang out for the entire weekend. I miss my family, but sometimes life just keeps us apart.
Paul shares about a time life just kept him apart from the Thessalonians. Paul wrote this in 1 Thessalonians 2:17: But, brothers and sisters, when we were orphaned by being separated from you for a short time (in person, not in thought), out of our intense longing we made every effort to see you.”
Separation happens in life. For Paul, he was talking about a group of young followers of Jesus he got called away from. They were new in their walk with Jesus.  After leading them to Christ, Paul had to move on. But they were never out of his thoughts. He used the term orphaned here, the Greek word means to be orphaned from. There was a separation but Paul long to see these young followers of Christ and it pained him that he couldn’t be there with them.
While Paul talks about this with young friends in faith, who have you been separated from for a long time? Who has it been a while since you have seen that you miss? I miss my family, while I consider where I live my home and I love Terre Haute. I still miss my family. My siblings and parents, my cousins, aunts and uncles, it’s not always the same without those we love far away.
Today who is someone you can connect with that you haven’t talk to in a while? Who have you been missing in your life? Try to make that connection today.
Have a great day.

If your friends suck, maybe it’s you that sucks and they’re all awesome

Having friends can make all the difference in the world.

There have been scientific facts of what having friends in our lives can do for us.  Lower blood pressure, higher happiness in life and other things you can find out if you go to the Mayo Clinic website.  It’s nice to have great friends.

Friends came through for Paul in Acts 27:3…

“The next day we landed at Sidon; and Julius, in kindness to Paul, allowed him to go to his friends so they might provide for  his needs.”

As Paul was sailing as a jailed prisoner, he was able to go see his friends to meet for his needs.  Friends can meet a need in our lives.  Friends can make a huge difference in the lives of others.  Sometimes though, we are not the best friends.  We think of our own thoughts and wants above others.

There was a time I thought I was really good friends with someone else.  We were talking online one time and I noticed the conversation was all about him (This isn’t always a bad thing). So I kept talking and saw if he would swing the conversation around, her never did. We were decent friends, but I realized the majority of the time we just talked about what he wanted to do.

Finally I decided to stop calling him and saw if he contacted me back. He never did. As a result, we went our separate ways. There are times I have not been a good friend and need to work on it. A good friend can make all the difference in the world.

I am glad to be surrounded by so many loving people.  There are things I need to do to be a better friend. What are something’s you like in a friend? What are things you can improve on to be a better friend? Are you a friend that can meet other’s needs? If not, you can improve and help someone out in a tough time. Try to work on being a better friend today.

Have a great day.

If I write about psychics, do they already know I am writing about them?

I love joking with people, my friend Jason has 1 upped  me when it comes to psychics.

He has a relative that is one.

Him and his brother used to call up their distant relative and say do you know who this is?

She replied, “No.”

They would reply, “Wow, you really aren’t that good of a psychic are you?”

It cracked me up hearing this.

Some reason why, I don’t really believe in psychics.

There was an interesting psychic story in Acts.

This lady was possessed and had this ability to fortune tell.

She followed Paul and the other people around saying these are servants of Jesus for days.

Finally, they said enough and sent the spirit out of this woman.

People were ticked.

Acts 16:19…

“When the owners of the slave girl realized that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to face the authorities.”

Paul and Silas were then beaten and thrown into jail.

Tough life.

They were able to help this woman be healed and people just thought about how they were going to lose their money.

What does it matter to you?

Are you happy or said with these developments?

This lady was healed.

Yet this cost a couple of people money.

I am glad this lady was healed, but it’s crazy how the people made money off this lady.

Sometimes there are thing we don’t understand or don’t make much sense to us.

It can be confusing, but there aren’t many answers in psychics.

Even having the right answer does not mean the best of results.

Being told the future does not guarantee it’s going to happen.

Unless the future is…

You’re going to die.

That’s true about everyone.

We will never have all the answers we want, but we can still have grace, forvigness, loves, patience and kindness.

All we have to do is accept Jesus.

Even when something bad happens, know there is still light at the end of the tunnel.

Psychics can come and go, just like Ms. Cleo.

Jesus is there for you at all times.

Have a great day.
