It's not fun being filthy.
Back when we used to go to visit our dad over the summer for weeks at a time he would often get us jobs.
One time, Zach and I were working for an uncle at Hipnar Towing and Auto Parts.
We would do things like move transmissions, take car parts off cars and other things like that.
We did this in the dead middle of a Nebraska summer.
Some days the heat index got to 110 -120 degree's.
It was nearly impossible to work.
At the end of the day we reeked.
Smelling like transmission fluid and sweat.
We didn't have that many work clothes we would wash then wear or just wear the clothes again.
It was nice after the days work to go and put on clean clothes.
Have you ever experienced anything like that?
In Zechariah chapter 3, Joshua is wearing some filthy clothes.
The angels are there to take care of him, verse 4…
"The angel said to those who were standing before him, "Take off his filthy clothes." Then he said to Joshua, "See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put rich garments on you."
A change is good.
This is often what sin is like. It's dirty smells bad and makes us look awful.
Isn't it good to get that feeling off of us?
This is what Christ did for us.
No matter how filthy we are, he cleans us up.
This doesn't mean that we live a life of wealth. Life will still be hard.
It means that our mistakes are forgiven and we are given a life past the one we live in right now.
Have a great weekend.
