Give a little to get a lot

"If it's going to cost money to save money, I'm not interested in it."

This is what one person said to me regarding Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University.

The cost of this is $99 dollars.

The Church isn't taking a dime, it's just the cost of the program.

What this person didn't allow me to explain was the average that people save (or pay off debt) over the 13 week program is over $5,000.

Sometimes we have to give a little to get something in return.

While I have yet to do the program, we are going to host one of two groups on Wednesday nights starting in a couple of weeks.

We have to give in order to get.

The same thing can be about sin.

Yesterday, I talked about how sin could be a barrier to us today we are looking at getting past that.

Zechariah sums up most of the Old Testament in a couple of verses.

Zechariah 1:4-5 and the end of 6….

"Do not be like your forefathers, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: "Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices. But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the Lord. Where are your forefathers now?

"Then they repented and said, "The Lord Almighty has done to us what our ways and practices deserve, just as he determined to do."

The people (just like us) are sinful. They sent prophets to tell them to repent and turn away from sin. They were stubborn and so God punished them, but always gave them a chance to return again.

Though we all sin, we all make mistakes.

God is there to forgive us, to allow us from returning back to him.

Just like the Financial Peace, there is a cost for it, but the return is more then we could ever imagine.

To be free of debt and to be free of sin, what a great feeling that would be.

Have a great day.
