Oh F%^&

One of the top 10 list of things I never thought I would hear during a prayer.

Story:

Every Tuesday I do Campus Life at a local middle school along with Rob Ball, Shawn Riggs, and Matt Troyer.

We finished up with the game earlier then normal and Shawn said that if we had time left we would do another game.

The students I was sitting by were pumped by that.

They were already planning their strategy for the game.

Shawn went through and did his lesson, on the clock it showed their was about five minutes left.

Shawn said we would pray then go into the game.

Shawn prayed and halfway through his prayer a loud bell went off.

Time for school.

At this time one of the kids near me says, “Oh F*&^”

It was the first time I have heard the f bomb dropped in prayer in a public setting.

Then Shawn finished praying and the kids went on their way.

Some kids a little disgusted by the fact we didn’t get to do another game.

Campus Life can be a little frustrating sometimes.

When you do hoping to reach people with Christ and you hear nothing but side conversations that you have to tell people to stop during the lesson.

You got people that show up for just the doughnut and game then leave.

It can leave you wondering if there’s a point to doing this.

Habakkuk was a person that wasn’t happy.

He saw people all around him doing ungodly things and nobody to intervene.

He calls to God during this time for him to respond.

Habakkuk 1:2-3…

“How long O Lord, must I call for
Help,
But you do not listen?
Or cry out to you, “Violence!”
But you do not save?
Why do you make me look at
Injustice?
Why do you tolerate wrong?
Destruction and violence are before
Me;
There is strife, and conflict
Abounds.”

Habakkuk was surrounded by people doing wrong and called to God.

He was mad, angry, frustrated and wanted God to intervene.

Do you ever get frustrated with God like that?

If there is one person that can take that type of punishment it’s God.

It threw me up a loop hearing someone saying the f bomb during a prayer.

I can say, at one point that was me (Just maybe not in a public surrounding like that).

I think that is exactly where God wants Christians.

If we are looking for situations where everyone is well behaved gets along great and are already Christians, we are in the wrong spot.

I thank God that I can be in those situations no matter how frustrating they can be.

How about you?

Have a great day.
