Safety bars

Monday we had a Church Trip to Holiday World.

It was a great trip to a place I have never been before.

For those Michiganders, it was like a bigger Michigan Adventure that is known for the cleanness of the park along with free soft drinks and sun screen.

They didn't have any metal rollercoasters, but had three good wooden rollercoasters.

The biggest one was titled The Voyage.

Brandi, Bobby, Hailee and myself the third group to go on the ride when the ride stopped.

It took about 5 or 10 minutes before the ride started going again.

As they announced this, a few people were quick to say, "Well there is no way I am going on this now," and left.

We waited along with the other people in line and after two runs without any people on the ride, they sent the next group on the ride.

Nobody looked freaked out by going on the ride even though they were the first people to get back on the ride.

Nothing fazed the first group as they got on the ride.

It did not freak them out.

They came back just fine and soon nobody thought about it as it was our time to go on the ride.

Everything was quickly back to normal.

I don't know how comfortable I would have been being the first people back on the ride.

Would you?

There are some things that require nothing short of faith.

I am not a huge rollercoaster fan and no matter how many rides I go on, I try to tighten the belt as much as possible.

I will mess around with the safety bar until I can get that extra click to make sure the bar is as far down as it goes.

I don't mess around when it comes to safety on a ride.

There are things in life that are not as safe as rollercoasters, they don't have the safety requirements of two belts and numerous safety requirements before people are allowed to go on.

People are put in tough spots all the time.

There was a lady that was going through a tough spot.

Her daughter was demon possessed.

She went to Jesus for help and this is what happened in Matthew 15:25-28…

"The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said.

He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."

"Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters table."

Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour."

Her daughter was going through an awful experience and there wasn't much she could do.

It was a major step to go to Jesus and the first time he basically said no!

She was persistent and showed her faith and humility with the fact even the dogs in the crumbs.

Basically saying even the lowest of lows have a chance to get something from their masters.

Honestly, there is no way I fully know what you are going through right now.

I could ask the question, "What are you going through that requires faith?"

A handful of people might respond.

Everyone goes through different things that we are cautious about or that require much faith.

Sometimes we crumble and we feel like the lowest of lows.

In life, we don't always have a safety belt and bar that protect us from going off track.

Whether it's with our career, our plans for school, having kids or dealing with issues such as depression, sexual issues, drugs and alcohol we might not have much safety from how we could get thrown off track.

Faith is not easy by any means, but yet without faith I don't think there would be much hope in the world.

True faith can get us through the worst of worse.

How is your faith in Jesus today?

Have a great day.
