It took me forever to learn how to blow a bubble with gum.
I am not joking.
I couldn't blow a bubble till I was 17.
I would try for a little bit and give up, I tried over the years with no success.
Finally there was a moment when I said, I am going to continue until I blow a bubble.
After about 10 minutes, I finally blew my first bubble.
I can't tell you what took so long to blow my first bubble.
You ever have a small accomplishment that took you years to do?
I tried with no success for so long and it finally just took a moment.
Sometimes life is like that we try so long that we either chose to do one of two things, either try real heard to accomplish it or we completely give up.
Jesus continues on with talking to the leaders of Jerusalem and tells a story about some tenants.
The story goes…
A man had a field.
He rented the land to some people to farm it.
After a while he sent one of his people to collect his money.
They killed him.
He sent a couple more later, they killed them too.
Finally he sent the one person they would listen too, his son.
They ended up killing him too.
Jesus then stops the story and asks "What is the owner of the field going to do with the tenants?"
They replied he will bring those people to an end and rent the land to good tenants.
Jesus response by an Old Testament quote then says this in Matthew 21:43-44…
"Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit. He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed."
The scripture continues on with the leaders FINALLY realizing he was talking about them.
They were ticked and looked for a way to arrest them, but didn't want to do it in front of the people because the people thought he was a prophet.
God tried to reach the people through many prophets.
The people would listen for a little while then stop listening and move on.
God tried this with many different prophets.
Then he sent Jesus, surely the world who listen to him.
Yet Jesus like they stopped listening to the prophets they stop listening to Jesus and now looked for a way to arrest him and kill him.
We are given many different chances to believe in faith.
20 years ago – I was just a Catholic kid growing up hating to go to Church.
15 years ago – I was still going to mostly Catholic Churches and absolutely hated it. I thought every in Churches were hypocrites and didn't want to associate with them anymore.
10 years ago – I started attending Campus Life and attend a Church I actually could deal with in South Lansing Christian Church. I still thought Christians were hypocrites and this Church didn't change my opinion of it.
5 years ago – I find myself not only believing in God and the Church (Through a friend I realized that people that go to Church are just as screwed up as everyone else and it a chance to worship the one that never made a mistake and died for us) but going into serving him with my life attending Great Lakes Christian College.
We can all change.
At one point I couldn't blow a bubble.
It take a moment where we need to change.
It's through Jesus people can change.
What's keeping you from making a deeper commitment in faith?
What's holding you back?
Jesus died for each and every one of our mistakes our sins.
Just like the parable of the tenants, they had a choice to deny the owner or not.
We have the same choice with our faith.
Jesus brought about a change, are you willing to take the leap of faith?
Have a great day.
