This title has special meaning for a couple of different reasons.
- It was Hailee and I's band on Rock Band which was based off of….
- An episode of Scrubs.
In the episode, Turk hears his boss left his briefcase upstairs.
He was trying to get one of the surgical jobs at the hospital and looking for a way to please his boss.
He ran upstairs to get the briefcase, as he came downstairs he was about to yell to his boss that he had his briefcase.
At that time the Todd comes out and offers a high five to Turk then says, "Betrayal five."
The Todd slaps Turk hard in the chest and knocks him to the ground then takes the briefcase to their boss.
No love from the Todd.
I don't know what season this happened in, but since the beginning of the show Turk and The Todd were friends.
The Todd compromised that friendship over a chance to win kudos points with their boss.
No loyalty, no love, the chance for brownie points was too much to overcome for the Todd.
Betrayal can happen all the time.
Sometimes it happens by the people we least expect it from.
We don't like to admit we often betray someone.
It could be with something we say or it can be by an action we have done.
Judas betrayed Jesus, he went and got money for the rights to give Jesus to those who wanted him dead.
The story after that goes into the disciples getting together and breaking bread.
Jesus tells them that one of them is going to betray him.
One by one they said surely not I Lord.
Judas also said this.
A simple response happened by Jesus in the end of Matthew 26:25…
"Yes, it is you."
Jesus calls him out in front of all the other disciples.
It is written a different way in John 13:27-29 which leads you more to believe the disciples really didn't understand what Jesus said.
One of those lines that Jesus said was, "What you are about to do, do quickly."
This would have left the disciples hanging.
Would they have tried to stop him or would they have tried to do something to him if they knew it was him who betrayed?
Would they have let him go through with it?
Would they have kicked him out of the room?
It's weird to think about.
What if…
Honestly, we betray Jesus more then we think, maybe not to the level Judas had, but we do.
We might not like to admit that, but we do.
Judas couldn't live with the fact that he was the one who ultimately went away from Jesus.
Maybe we need to stop justifying some of our actions and just ask for forgiveness.
We can ask for forgiveness from God, from friends, from the Church or whoever we have betrayed.
What do you think?
Have a great day.
