Denial is more than a river in Egypt

There are times in life when we get denied.

What are some of those times for you?

Off the top of my head, here are some times when I have been denied…

  • Asking a girl out on a date (Before Hailee)
  • Applying for disability insurance
  • Trying to get a job
  • Asking for forgiveness
  • Asking for a new job (I applied three times to work at McDonalds in high school and didn't get the job).

The list could go on.

We get denied in life a lot.

It's not always a bad thing.

Sometimes it's a growing or molding experience.

Other times it's a bad experience.

Whether it's us denying someone else or someone else denying us, it's not a good experience.

What could make it even worse is when it's someone close to us.

Ever been rejected by a close friend?

Jesus was.

Jesus tells the disciples this will happen.

They will deny him.

It's hard to swallow.

Someone you give your life for, your closest friend and he says you will deny him?

That is hard to grasp.

Peter stood up and said he never will.

Jesus answered in Matthew 26:34…

"I tell you the truth. This very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times."

The disciples had trouble grasping this.

They respond with they would never deny him.

I could see some people on the outside or the border with Jesus denying him, but these are the people closest to him.

You could imagine your best best friends denying you or completely stop hanging out with you.

This is was Jesus was going to experience.

When the time comes, will you stand up for your friends?

Stand up for your family?

What about stand up for your faith?

What can you do to make sure this denial doesn't happen in your life?

What do you think?

Have a great day.
