How many are with you to the end?
You might hear this in sports or in an action movie.
The odds are against them, there seems to be no hope.
The people stay together and fight to the end.
I love a story like this whether in real life or a movie.
It's great to hear someone coming from basically a defeat and they overcome, the team trust each other and lead to victory.
Any movies you think of when you think about this?
How often does that happen in life?
We have a history of giving up in life.
Today, I was at Woodrow Wilson Middle School for Campus Life.
Matt Troyer asked who everyone was rooting for in the thanksgiving football game.
They mentioned some of the teams and he mentioned Lions.
I lifted my hands up proud and instantly got booed by about 70 people.
They booed loud.
Even while my team is going through a hard time I still root for them.
I will stick threw a losing situation.
We are full of times when we don't do that.
A simple marriage vow is till death do you part and half of the marriages end in divorce.
Every marriage has issues and it takes a lot to work.
There are certain reasons for divorce, but it's amazing when you see people together till the end.
I love seeing a couple that is together for 50 plus years, and I don't think people realize how long that is.
It's an amazing feat with divorce rate around 50.
There often isn't that many people that are there till the end.
My Great Grandma Lauritzen died at the age of like 96, the funeral was made up of about seven people.
She outlived almost everyone she knew except for family.
Sometimes it feels like we are by ourselves till the end.
The end of the book of Matthew ends with Jesus talking to the disciples.
Just a little earlier they were split, afraid of persecution and didn't know what was going to happen to them.
He mentions go into the people baptizing them and teaching them to obey his commands.
He then ends the book with this line at the end of Matthew 28:20…
"And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Jesus is with us.
No matter what we go through.
The good.
The bad.
The unmentionable.
He is there.
How many people are honestly going to be there for you till the very end?
There is not guarantee, yet this is a promise Jesus gives us.
He is there.
He will be there.
Until we die and after we die Jesus is there for us.
No matter what your faith is, Jesus is there.
All you have to do is call out to him.
Marriage isn't forever, eventually we die.
Our favorite sports teams won't always be great.
Twilight will eventually have no more movies and books.
Yet through this all, Jesus is there for us.
How does that make you feel?
What do you think?
Have a great day.
FYI:
- Just wrapped up going through the book of Matthew.
- I started Matthew on March 26.
- I was planning on going through one chapter at a time, instead I went through one section at a time.
- I just finished in just under nine months.
- The book of Matthew is made up in the NIV of around 24,000 words.
- Going through the book of Matthew and focusing on a couple of verses a day in a section and writing what God laid on my heart I wrote…
- Over 52,000 words that took up 194 pages double spaced in Word.
- What God had put down in 24,000 words took me nine months and 52,000 words to go through.
- It shows me the true impact of God's words and how much thoughts good through what they wrote.
