At times it's hard being a Lions fan.
I will always root for them and think next year they will win the Super Bowl, but it's not easy.
I believe there is some good in the organization, yet every season I get disappointed.
I see them let go of the good players, keep the bad players or players that fit the system (aka crappy players).
I see bad decision after bad decision and am left scratching my head and thankful we still have the Red Wings.
Being a Lions fan is not easy.
It's hard having faith in a team when you have been losing for so long.
I recently caught a bit about a show titled dangerous roads.
Some of the hardest roads to drive in America.
They talked about this one road in the mountains and how dangerous of a road it is and they can't make improvements because it's on the side of the mountain.
One wrong turn on this road and your car will go down a 400 edge.
Being a Lions fan is almost like driving down this road taking a curve going 80, it's fun but you know it's going to be over quick if things don't change drastically.
It's the same way with faith.
Having faith is like taking this road going 80 around a curve and sometimes you just trust Jesus to lead you the right way.
There is nothing that says faith is easy, in fact at times it's quite hard.
Faith is a challenge, if it wasn't everyone would believe.
Jesus didn't have an easy journey when he started his ministry.
He came forward and got baptized (if there was one person who didn't need to be baptized it would be an adult Jesus, so if we are followers of him wouldn't we do the same?)
And things went easier for him after that right?
Check these two verses out, this happened right after Jesus got baptized.
Mark 1:12-13…
"At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert,
and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him."
He was immediately sent into the desert to be tempted.
Who decided this?
The Holy Spirit.
Leaves you scratching your head?
Instantly he was tested in faith, just like we are in faith.
When you decided to follow Jesus, it's hard going back to school, going back to work and going back to your family to let them know what you did.
Jesus was instantly challenged for 40 days in the desert.
After that he was taken care of.
There is nothing that says life is going to be an easy road.
It's going to be hard.
It's hard enough facing some non-believers then you see believers that barely show faith and you wonder what this is all about.
Faith is never promised to be easy.
Yet through faith we can truly live and be thankful.
We are to show a remorse to people that only Jesus could give to us.
We are able to get past the hurts of an abusive family, bad decision we made and being able to forgive the people we hurt the most.
Nobody said being a sports fan, esp. of the Lions would be easy.
Nobody said faith would be easy, but through Jesus we are brought out of the pains in life.
How is your faith right now?
What can you be thankful for today?
How can you show someone else grace today?
Have a great day.
