Off to the trough

One of the places we would always eat at growing up was the buffets.

Our parents enjoyed to take us there.

It was simple, they have every type of food imaginable so we would never complain or fight about where or what we were going to eat.

Going on vacation, you knew that we were going to end up at a buffet sooner or later.

Everyone came away stuffed and pleased with what they ate because it was their choice.

While it doesn't teach you about eating habits, as a kid growing up it was awesome.

We all went away satisfied.

Faith can be the same way.

Even though we might have different ideas, beliefs, backgrounds and denominations, as long as Jesus is still the focal point we can all come away satisfied.

A group of people were following Jesus around.

Jesus needed some time to relax and get away so he got in a boat with the disciples and went in the lake away from people.

Yet as they were going people followed them along the shore all the way to the place they stopped.

Jesus got out, had compassion on them because they wanted to see and hear what Jesus had to say and taught them.

It got late and they were in a remote location so the disciples asked Jesus if he should dismiss them so they could go get food.

Jesus told them to feed the people.

They said that would take 8 months of a person's salary.

If the average household in the US makes $48,000, this would be $32,000 to feed the people (There was between 15,000-20,000 people there).

Jesus asked what they had for food and they came up with two fish and five loaves of bread.

Jesus gave thanks to God for the food and divided the food for everyone.

Not only did everyone eat but it says this in Mark 6:42…

"They all are and were satisfied."

Jesus just fed an arena about the size of the Breslin Center or bigger than the Hulman Center.

Not only did that many people eat, but they had 12 basketfuls of bread and fish leftover.

They went away satisfied.

Jesus provides for us in ways we could never imagine.

At times I easily forget this.

God has provided for our family so much and so often we are more then satisfied.

Jesus provides so much more then we could ever ask in return.

How has Jesus provided for you today?

We have so much to be satisfied about today.

What are you satisfied about?

Have a great day.
