No matter what we are doing at one point or another we could be replaced.
Also at some point we need to be replaced.
Not always an easy thing to grasp.
Any good college sports team knows this.
You are only going to have an athlete at the school for usually 4-5 years at most.
This means you have to get used to being replaced.
I know Duke basketball counts on this.
They are known for having a great mentor program.
They will put there experienced players with young freshman to mentor them.
Teach them, answer questions and develop them.
Without this program, they wouldn't be as successful.
No matter how successful we can be in life, for the greater good we have to look for our replacement.
This really deals with a job or an organized sports team really well, but it also goes for ministry.
If we don't have replacements, things will just get worse or they will just go away.
Just like a sports team can struggle without finding a replacement, a Church can struggle when the main leaders of the Church (This goes way beyond staff) don't focus on training replacements.
This is something Jesus did during his ministry.
He sent out his replacements in a way.
In Mark 6, Jesus sends out his 12.
He also has them take the bare minimum when he sends them out.
They have a staff, sandals and the clothes on their back.
He sends them out two at a time.
How did this workout?
Mark 6:12-13…
"They went out and preached that people should repent.
They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them."
They were a success.
Often we don't give people enough credit.
We somehow get the idea that it would be hard for us to be replaced.
The more we think like this, the further we go away from the people we need to be.
The disciples did good when Jesus sent them out.
Who could you influence or help lead?
There are people all around us who are capable of doing what we do.
At some point we just have to lead and let God lead.
What do you think?
Have a great day.
