Breaking down

I have never seen a car that hasn't needed to be fixed.

Have you?

What does this mean?

Cars break down.

No matter how much of a junker or how brand new a vehicle can be it breaks down.

There is a reason cars driven off a lot go down a ton in value as soon as you drive it off the lot.

It's going to break down.

Here goes some of the things I have had break down on my cars…

Breaks, tires, something with the transmittion, windshield, wheel cylinder (3 times), rotars, the front part of my car (After hitting a deer going 75), my rear view window (got shattered going down the highway) and well you get the point.

While I have never bought a car brand new, cars eventually do one thing, break down.

When we put so much value into things that are going to break down, it can be pretty discouraging.

Sometimes what we put our money is well…..stupid.

Ever feel like you made a bad investment with your money?

I have several times.

Today I am looking at someone called the rich young man.

He came to Jesus and wanted to know what he would have to do to make it to hevaen.

Jesus basically told him to follow the 10 commandments minus a few.

The man said he had since he was a boy.

Then Jesus with love, hit him where it counts in Mark 10:21…

"One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

The man fell face down and went away sad because he had wealth.

Jesus could care less how much money we have or what type of car we want to have.

He cares about us living for the right reasons.

When it comes down to it, life is about people not things.

No matter how nice of a TV, how many channels of cable, how nice of a cell phone I have, it means nothing if…

I can't watch the TV and enjoy it with other people, if I have a nice cell phone and no one to call with it.

What do we put our value in?

I have never found a computer or a TV that almost instantly didn't get replaced by a better verison.

When we have to have the biggest and best of everything, we are going to pay for it, and be dissapointed a lot.

The rich man had a lot of wealth and stuff while there were broke people with nothing.

Imagine what would happen if he gave that up?

Imagine what would happen with us if we gave up some of the things we put money into?

How much money you have won't get you to heaven.

Investing in people and loving them would have a better impact.

What's one thing you can give up?

Is there one thing you would be better off without?

I know there are with my life, how about you?

Have a great day.
